A effectively written article, I just passed this onto a workfellow who was doing somewhat analysis on this. And he indeed purchased me dinner because I discovered it for him…. .. therefore let me reword that: Thnkx for the treat nonetheless yeah Thnkx for spending the time to speak about this, I feel strongly concerning it and adore reading far more on this topic. If doable, as you gain expertise, would you mind updating your blog with more details? it's extraordinarily beneficial on behalf of me. massive thumb up for this blog

Intro
The samurai (bushi) were the military class of ancient and pre-modern Japan, the Japanese equivalent of medieval knights in England. The samurai had a major influence in the development of Shogun Japan; in order to understand this, the following should be known about the samurai. These warriors typically wore the kimono in their everyday life, and wore loincloth beneath their detailed armour. Military training mainly consisted of practising archery on horses and sword fighting. The role of the samurai was to obey and protect their daimyo/lord. They followed the seven principles of the Bushido code. Unlike the English knights, their life was mostly about philosophy and loyalty.
How did the samurai train and what did they wear?
Samurai wore interesting clothing. The hakama was the traditional samurai pants used by samurai horsemen to protect the legs (Little Star Enterprises Inc. n.d). Anyways, the samurai wore the kimono most of the time; however the hitatare style of clothing and loincloth became popular as well. The kimono was a matt fabric robe for everyday life. The loincloth (fundoshi) was often worn under kimono or armour as an underwear (The Samurai Archives 2001). The hitatare style of dress was popular especially between the 12th and 17th centuries for samurai to wear under armour and was also used as ninja clothing (Little Star Enterprises Inc. n.d). The quality of the clothing someone wore depended heavily on their wealth/class.
Samurai armour developed massively over time and was influenced by the ancient Chinese armour. The armour can be categorised by their construction in three groups: scale, lamellar and full-plate armours. Ancient armours were made using scales and lamellae and adapted from the Chinese. Boris Bedrosov (2007) explains where the earliest information about the ancient Japanese armours came from, “The earliest information about Japanese armour can be found in the ancient chronicles Kojiki and Nihongi, both written in the first quarter of the 8th century. More reliable information has been found in the archeological [sic] excavations of sites around graveyards (kofun), where full suits of armour and different weapons have been recovered. Pottery figures (haniwa), which often depict fully armed and equipped warriors, also reveal much about early Japanese armour.” The Japanese classical armour is considered to be Japan’s own invention and was used from the 10th to 15th century. Small rectangular or trapezoidal scales were laced to make this unique type of armour. The mask (sho men or men yoro) became standard features of the armour during the late 1300s as it was used to protect the face and give a fearsome/demonic appearance. Long military campaigns of the warring states period revealed the disadvantages of scale armour and so modern armour of lamellar construction (tosei-gusoku) replaced the standard.
What was the purpose/role of the samurai?
The samurai developed after 646CE when a few large landholders amassed power and wealth, creating a feudal system to become daimyos. The landholders became lords and created their personal guards, eventually the guards trained martial arts, gave priority to their lords over their family. The samurai were only created to serve, protect and obey their lord. According to Kallie Szczepanski (2003), they were extremely loyal and were expected to commit ritual suicide (seppuku) rather than surrender to another. Daimyos also practiced seppuku, as they were also warriors. For example, in 1615 when Hideyori’s army was defeated as the Tokugawa (Ieyasu’s army) poured through the gates of Osaka, Hideyori and his mother performed seppuku (Samurai Archives 2001). This goes in accordance with the Bushido way of the warrior. That is why the samurai were extraordinarily loyal.
What principles did the samurai follow?
The samurai followed the Bushido code, which had significant influence from Zen Buddhism and Confucianism. The code emphasised that the foremost duty of a samurai was to his lord, no matter the circumstances. Under this code, if a samurai warrior failed in any military situation (lost or about to lose his honour), he could make up for it by committing ritual suicide (seppuku). The concept of the code developed during the Kamakura period and the term bushido was used first in the late 16th century (Encyclopaedia Britannica 2013). There are seven virtues of the Bushido code of conduct: Gi - Rectitude, Yu - Courage, Jin – Benevolence, Rei - Respect, Makoto - Honesty, Meiyo - Honour, and Chugi - Loyalty. Japanese martial arts such as aikido, judo, karate, jujitsu, kendo, and kenjutsu still practice bushido in modified versions today (Big Bear Academy 2010).

Great Website but it would be great if you could write when the website was published and who the author is... It really helps when sourcing information for an assignment, having to put Unknown down multiple times doesn't give anyone a good mark.
